2018학년도 동계 KBU 해외취업지원프로그램 연수후기

I went to Singapore through an overseas job support program. It was my first time to go to Singapore, but I was nervous because it was my first time to go abroad. Writing an entry card on a plane was also a help from a friend next door, and when I arrived in Singapore, I was excited, but I was also afraid. I was worried whether I could adapt to Singapore and get along for two weeks.

Arrived at MDIS, unpacked and looked around the accommodation. There were bathrooms and shower rooms, and each shower had partitions. It was good to have both warm and cold water. There were washing machines, drying machines on the same floor, and the usage fee was one dollar. And in Singapore, I heard that we should buy water, but there was a water purifier. The water was very cool and hot water came out. I was lucky to drink a lot of water. The room was neat and cool because there were two beds and two desks and each room had an air conditioner. The view was nice and I liked it. But when I opened the closet, it smelled a little. There was a pleasant smell like sweat. I sprinkled perfume on the closet. The smell didn't go away immediately. It was a little sad.

I was worried because Singapore food is different from Korea. I ate Singapore food (chicken rice, chicken nuggets, etc.) with the buffet prepared by MDIS for lunch on the first day, but the smell of spices was different from what I thought. It was palatable. It was very delicious. Singapore is a country with many races, different religions, and different countries, so there are many different kinds of food. I ate Singapore food such as chili crab, chicken slice, McDonald's, Singapore signature burger and so on. I ate a variety of foods such as the Arabic food Murtabak, Indian food Nan, Carre, Malaysian food Bakute, and Nash Gorin. There was no food that didn't suit my taste.

I met Professor Evelyn on the first day. It was my first class, and I was curious about what kind of professor it was, but I felt like a bright person and it was fun. The class began in earnest. Professor Evelyn liked to discuss and present. However, it was awkward because people in E group are not close yet. I was active and voted against it, so I made a lot of presentations from the first day, so Professor Evelyn liked It felt good. Each group had a lot of time to ask each other in English as all the members announce

Professor Evelyn gave us some group assignments. 1. Every day of the day in a daily timely manner; 2.choose the subject and survey the foreigners; 3.the presentation of the survey and two minutes of self-introduction. There were three things. Among them, I liked the task of surveying foreigners. I thought it would be fun to talk to foreigners and talk to them through surveys. Over the course of three days, we carried 10 pages of each questionnaire outside and conducted a survey. The theme of our group was 'alcohol,' and I wanted to find out how our country and foreigners' drinking culture are different, and foreigners were also interested. It was easier than I thought to do the survey. They answered easily and naturally, they talked in English and asked personal questions and it was fun.

After school, I could go to Singapore where I want to go. There were many pretty places in Singapore, but I wanted to go to a university hospital in Singapore because I am a nursing department. Among them, I went to Singapore National University Hospital, which represents Singapore. I also interviewed nurses and nursing students. "How do you deal with patients of all races, different countries, and different religions?" he asked. "After checking their basic human resources in English, they use the language of the country or call a nurse from that country." "What's the most inconvenient thing about working?" I asked, "I don't care about language or race, but it's the hardest thing to do with food." He said, "It is the most difficult because different countries eat different foods that are limited by disease, and there are foods that are not eaten by different religions." I thought it would be the hardest thing to talk about, but I was surprised to hear that it was the hardest thing to eat. It was an unexpected answer. Also, I was surprised that the hospital did not smell like medicine or hospital like Korea. It was like a neat hotel and in the middle of the hospital was a green garden like a botanical garden. I think it was a different experience.(I wanted to take pictures, but the nurses said I couldn't take them because of hospital rules, and the nursing students said that they could take pictures and use their own pictures.)

I was very sad to come to Korea after training. I had to go back to my daily life, but I didn't want to go back. I've gained a lot of confidence since I went there. I felt like I grew up because I ate things that I could not see in Korea and lived only in English. In particular, two weeks was short, but I think my ability to listen to English has increased. And there was not rejection of foreigners and it was the first time I had been abroad, and I felt the world was wide. I was proud that Singapore was the first country I went to. If I have a chance, I want to come back to Singapore.
